Homemade Nutella

Shop bought Nutella lists its first 2 ingredients as palm oil and sugar, so, healthy it is not. Why not try this homemade option, which only uses 3 ingredients and water, and is great stirred into porridge or used as a spread. It's also really fun to make with the kids, my daughter loved it.

 

Ingredients:

 

  • 3 tablespoons raw cacao powder

  • 150ml maple syrup

  • 350g hazelnuts

 

Method:

 

  1. Heat oven to 200 degrees

  2. Roast the hazelnuts on a baking tray for 15 minutes, allow to cool

  3. Blitz in a food processor, until they resemble bread-crumbs

  4. Pour in the maple syrup, cacao and blitz again to a smooth mixture

  5. Gradually add water, a little at a time, until the required consistency

  6. Keep in a glass air-tight container in the fridge - lasts approx. 3-4 days
